In 2002, Pharmaton celebrated 60 years of success on the international pharmaceutical market,
meaning six decades of competence and expertise.
Founded in 1942 by the dental surgeon Dr. Paul Kradolfer in Lugano, Pharmaton had first specialised in the development
and production of local anaesthetics for dentistry and had become the leading company on the Swiss market. At the
beginning of the sixties, Pharmaton started to investigate the pharmacological properties of medicinal plants and
built new headquarters in Bioggio. With this key step towards the future, the pillars were laid for its success
story in the research, development and production of rational phytomedicines.
Front-runner of a holistic health-care trend
Always seeking for innovative health-care solutions and anticipating the trends of the future, Pharmaton
perceived already 40 years ago the global need for gentle, natural products to be used by self-responsible people for the
maintenance and recovery of their daily well-being. It was at the beginning of the sixties when Pharmaton launched the first
Pharmaton Natural Health Product: the flagship brand Pharmaton®
(capsules, caplets and effervescent tablets), an innovative formula based on a combination of G115® Ginseng extract with
vitamins, minerals and trace elements. It was first launched in Switzerland in 1961 and is nowadays available in many
countries, on all continents.
Other Pharmaton Natural Health Products
followed. They met consumers' needs and expectations and
encouraged Pharmaton to continue on this track. The Pharmaton staff of this new millennium shows the same commitment,
dedication and passion which motivated the Pharmaton pioneers decades ago: competence, creativity, initiative, sense of
responsibility and orientation towards the future.
Our ambition: to be world-class
With Pharmaton's integration into the Boehringer Ingelheim Group
in 1991, a new era opened up. New resources and perspectives, challenging international projects in all business areas and
a stronger presence on the global market provided new impulses and impacts. Customer orientation, a quick adaptability to
the individual markets, premium products and services, and a global approach are some of the pillars of Pharmaton's mission
and vision: to be an internationally visible centre of excellence for phytomedicine.
